Social, Shopping and Medical transport provided by the City of Marion as follows:

 

Community Bus

Is funded by the City of Marion to provide door to door services to eligible clients who have difficulty accessing public transport, live independently and do not have access to a private vehicle.

The service may be used to take eligible clients shopping, to neighbourhood centres, libraries, senior's clubs and groups.

The Community Bus provides transport assistance to the following client groups:

  • Frail older people over 65 living independently in their homes;
  • Transport disadvantaged;
  • Adults living with a disability;
  • Carers of each of the above.

Social Support

Is funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and is available to eligible clients who are:

  • Frail older people over 65 living independently in their homes (with a full aged pension)
  • Adults living with a disability (Disability Support Pension);
  • Carers of either of the above.

The Social Support Program aims to support independence in all aspects of your life and can assist eligible clients to:

  • Do their shopping;
  • Accompany them to appointments;
  • Help regain independence, and;
  • Socialising.

Social support is subject to individual assessment and availability of volunteers and will be reviewed regularly.

Neighbourhood Centre Transport

Is funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) to provide transport assistance to clients  who are over 65 and living in the Marion council boundary, that may have difficulties attending programs or events at any of the following neighbourhood centres:

  • Cooinda;
  • Mitchell Park;
  • Glandore;
  • Trott Park.
